The beginning of this school year is off to a great start!  I can’t believe that we have already completed 3 full weeks of school.  School looks different in some ways but very familiar in others.  We are just so GRATEFUL to have our students back in-person or virtually.  As the daylight hours get shorter and the temperatures get cooler, please advise your child, if necessary, on the appropriate attire for the weather conditions.  Please also pay attention to your school’s dress code in the handbook. 

With fall approaching, there is always the possibility that school could be canceled due to inclement or unsafe weather conditions.  We always do our best to keep students and staff safe. Please also remember to “Like Us” on Facebook or “Follow Us” on Twitter for weather updates on delays and closings.

We need your help when you call in absences for your child whether he/she attends in-person or virtually.  Please leave a message with the date and the details of the symptoms that your child is experiencing.  In partnership with the Allen County Department of Health, we continue to monitor the absences that we are receiving.  In order to mitigate any potential spread of COVID-19, it is important to know if any of your child’s symptoms are related to the virus.  Several people have asked if we have had COVID-19 cases in our building and the answer is “yes”.  However, due to contact tracing and the cooperation of students, parents, staff and the Allen County Health Department, we have been able to mitigate the spread.  Anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be contacted by the Health Department. (However, please remember that a test in not required if a person has symptoms - he/she can isolate for 10 days at home without a test confirmation of positivity.)  Anyone involved as a close contact to a positive case will always be notified by the school or the Health Department on what to do next.  For further guidance, please visit the website and click on the tile labeled “EACS Reopening 2020-2021 Plan”.  Then, click on the Allen County Health Department link on the left-hand side.  The flow charts will assist with walking through various situations that could potentially happen.  Personally, I want to thank students, parents, and our entire staff for all of the effort that is being put into creating a healthy and safe environment for our children.

Finally, fall break is on Monday, October 5th.  Students and staff will be able to enjoy a 3-day weekend to relax and hopefully enjoy some fun time with family.  Also, just a reminder that there will not be an in-service day on Thursday, October 15th.  It has been canceled.   Therefore, students and staff will have regular attendance on this day.
