Title IV

Overview:

Title IV, originally funded as part of the Elementary Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) and recently updated with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), is a federally-funded program designed to provide supplemental support to public school corporation, charter schools, and non-public school students (through their Local Education Agency: LEA). These funds can ONLY supplement what is provided in approved schools.

The emphasis of Title IV funding, according to the IDOE’s application, is to “improve student engagement and achievement by improve student access to: STEM and/or computer science; Reading, Language Arts; Learning programs that provide post-secondary level courses; career and college counseling / guidance; and other courses, activities, and programs, or other experiences that contribute to a well-rounded education.”

Title IV funds are distributed by the IDOE on a formula basis through an application process with the following focus areas:

  1. Social emotional supports

  2. Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education

  3. Improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students (no more than 25% of our allocation funds may be used for this)
